Barbara Stegemann has studied with many of the world’s leading oboists and belongs to the leading musicians on her instrument of the younger generation.

After she won the 1st Prize at the Jugend Musiziert Competition (2003, 2006) and the 2nd Prize at the Lions Germany Competition (2011), she studied at the Mozarteum Salzburg and the University of Music in Munich with Günther Passin, Ingo Goritzki, and Francois Leleux. She completed her masters and soloist degree at the Haute école de Musique de Lausanne with Jean-Louis Capezzali.

Barbara’s playing has been perfected in Masterclasses with Stefan Schilli or Maurice Bourgue and she appeared as a chamber musician with Sergio Azzolini, Sharon Kam, Lars Vogt, and others. She has played with orchestras as a solo oboe such as the Gstaad Festival Orchestra, the NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover, the Opernhaus Zürich, the Berner Symphonieorchester among others and has been a member of the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, from 2014-2018. In 2018 she won the position as solo oboe in the Symphony Orchestra of the Gran Teatro del Liceu, Barcelona.
