Simona Sindrestean began studying the piano at the age of 5, and later, at the age of 10, she continued with studying the oboe. In 2008 she graduated from the National University of Music in Bucharest under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Florenel Ionoaia, and in the same yearshe received an Erasmus scholarship at the National Conservatory of Music and Dance Paris, in the class of Prof. David Walter. In 2011 Simona graduated with a master’s degree in Germany from the “F Liszt” Academy of Music, Weimar, in the class of Prof. Matthias Backer. Simona attended master classes with Francois Leleux, Dominik Wollenweber, Christian Wetzel, Klaus Lienbacher, Hansjorg Schellenberger and won numerous awards in Romania and abroad, including, in 2010, the Third Prize at the Hochschulwettbewerb in Trossingen, Germany, the Grand Prize at the National Competition in Bucharest, 2008, the First Prize at the National Olympics in Brasov, in 2003.
As an obosit performing soloist, Simona also loves chamber music and plays in different orchestras from the age of 18. Between 2010-2012 Simona held the position of second oboe with English horn in Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester, Berlin where she sang under famous wands like Paavo Jarvi, Herbert Blomstedt, Roger Norrington, Kent Nagano, Tugan Sokhiev, Andrew Manze, Vladimir Ashkenazy , Michael Sanderling. Following that in 2011 to occupy for a year the position of academician at Komische Oper, Berlin. Since 2015 she is permanently employed as a solo oboist in Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester, Denmark. In 2018 she was hired as a solo oboist at the Helsingborgs Symfoniorkester, Sweden. Meanwhile, Simona also collaborates with Les Dissonances, Paris, Konzerthausorchester, Berlin, Aalborg Symfoniorkester, Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Aarhus Symfoniorkester, Odense Symfoniorkester, Helsingborg Symfoniorkester and other chamber ensembles, including Kirin Winds and Mutatis Ensemble.
